How long have you had a food blog (or other foodie type site)?

We are definitely new to the blogging world; it’s only been two months.

How would you describe your site to new readers?

Inspired Taste is just two people in love with food, cooking and each other.  It is just us, a newlywed couple who have taken the food blogging plunge together and who are truly enjoying each and every minute of it.

What made you decide to start your site?

We really just wanted to find something that we could do together that was completely different and refreshing.  Joanne has always loved cooking and has had the dream of writing her own cookbook for many years which made food blogging a perfect fit.

Is there any personal meaning behind the name?

Absolutely, not only did we come up with it together, but it mirrors how we try to live our own daily lives.  It does sound cliché, but inspiration is truly everywhere and that is how we come up with ideas for recipes, places we would like to travel or even ways to take a photograph.

What advice do you have for new bloggers?

No matter what always be passionate, patient and humble.  Competition is not the point, instead always try to add something valuable to the food blogging community and most of the time that means just being yourself.

What’s the best thing about being a food blogger?

For us, it is being able to be a part of something together and the excitement of not knowing what could come next.  It is truly incredible that people take the time to read what we have to say and then go even further and comment or email us thanking us for writing it.

What’s the worst?

It creates a lot of dirty dishes.

What food blog inspires you the most?

Oh, what a difficult question.  There are so many and all so different.  The very first food blog that we browsed through together was Simply Recipes created by Elise Bauer so that one definitely sticks with us, but since then we have come across so many wonderful sites.

Do you have a favorite chef, celebrity or otherwise?

This is a tough question, we actually do not have a favorite chef, other than grandmothers, moms and dads, basically anyone who enjoys cooking and sharing it with others are pretty awesome. We definitely do have a long list of acclaimed chefs and their restaurants we would love to experience one day though.

What camera do you use?

We are lucky enough to be borrowing a Nikon D60 (Thanks Dad).

Do you have any formal training in the field of cooking?

Not unless hours of browsing through cookbooks, online food sites and standing in front of the stove count.

Do you watch a lot of cooking on TV?

Yes and no, Joanne definitely has a few favorites like Barefoot Contessa, Top Chef and Everyday Italian, but most of the time when we get home from work she rushes into the kitchen to start cooking and I start working on the website, so we don’t really have too much time to watch TV anymore.

How challenging has it been to find a loyal reader base?

Well, as of today we have 16 subscribers, we are pretty sure some of them are family and friends, but we also see our site statistics increasing each day, so we are hopeful that in time our reader base will increase and we will get the opportunity to get to know some of our readers through their comments or emails.

What types of food do you enjoy preparing most?

We both really enjoy soups, they are so versatile and comforting, but we are usually up for anything.

Do you have a signature dish or two?

Definitely, our Creamy Vegetable Soup, it is so easy, delicious and good for us.  Another one is Mussels with shallots, garlic, white wine, parsley and a splash of cream served with some rustic bread, we certainly did not come up with the combo, but it is definitely a favorite.

Favorite kitchen gadget?

It’s a toss up between our micro plane and a quality chef’s knife.  Both are used almost every time we cook.

If you could choose to be any food, what would it be?

Chocolate, who wouldn’t want to be something that with a mention, whiff or a glance makes people smile.

If you could banish just one food from the earth, what would it be?

Adam: Peeps (Those marshmallow treats that only come out for Easter)

Joanne: Miracle Whip (sorry)

What’s the one super power you wish you had?

I think we will have to agree with Peter Bagi of The Closet Chef, who was featured a couple of weeks ago, anything that would speed up or even better, eliminate dirty dishes would be wonderful.

What’s your favorite thing about “Refrigerator Soup”?

So far, what we have experienced with Refrigerator Soup has been great.  Not only have we had personal emails back and forth, but the mission to help out less known food bloggers (like Adam and I) is wonderful.  The internet is a very large place and little sites like ours can get lost.  There are so many incredibly talented food bloggers out there that have yet to be discovered, so anyone or any site that realizes that and then tries to help gets an A in our books.
