How long have you had a food blog (or other foodie type site)?

Since April 2008

How would you describe your site to new readers?

I love to cook and share recipes that can be made with ingredients in most kitchen pantrys.

What made you decide to start your site?

My passion for cooking and looking at other food blog sites.   I figured I can do that.

Is there any personal meaning behind the name?

I came up with the name Real Mom Kitchen – because I’m a regular mom of 3 kids and love to cook.

What advice do you have for new bloggers?

Find your niche and follow your passion!

What’s the best thing about being a food blogger?

The food!

What the worst?

The weight gain.   I always end up gaining a few pounds and then have to work hard to get it back off.

What food blog inspires you the most?

What camera do you use?

A Canon PowerShot SD1000, but I’m hoping to get a Nikon D40 for Christmas.

Do you have any formal training in the field of cooking?

Nope, all my training came from my mom, whatever cooking shows I’ve watched, and my own experience.

Do you watch a lot of cooking on TV?

I watch what I can. There are 2 local tv show that have a daily cooking segment that I watch on a daily basis.

How challenging has it been to find a loyal reader base?

I don’t think it’s been too hard. I think it helps to have easy recipes for everyday meals for families.


What types of food do you enjoy preparing most?

Desserts – there are just so many possibilities!

Do you have a signature dish or two?

I probably have 3 dishes – homemade rolls, creamy chicken noodle soup, and marshmallow brownies.

Favorite kitchen gadget?

My mini food processor.

If you could choose to be any food, what would it be?

An eclair

If you could banish just one food from the earth, what would it be?

Pumpkin pie – I like pumpkin cookies, bread, cheesecake, muffins etc, but can’t stand pumpkin pie.

What’s the one super power you wish you had?

That I could eat whatever I want and never gain a pound.

What’s your favorite thing about “Refrigerator Soup”?

All the yummy pictures.
